Tasting Notes | Intense, fine, fruity, pure and ripe nose. Notes of exotic fruits. Thorough on the attack, juicy in the mid-palate, very well built, the wine develops fat, with a nice touch. It has the advantage of starting on the final, long and even deep.

From 1840 to today, the notoriety of Château Larrivet Haut-Brion has continued to grow.

First "Château de Canolle", then "La Rivette", then successively "La rivette", and "Brion-Larrivet", it was not until 1874 that the property acquired its almost definitive name.
Then called “Château Haut-Brion Larrivet”, it belonged to Ernest Laurent, merchant of the Place de Bordeaux.
In 1893, Château Haut-Brion-Larrivet became the property of Bordeaux shipowners, MM. The sons of Théodor Conseil. Enlarged and developed, the property then had 50 hectares of vines.
A trip back in time takes us to 1898, a fabulous year when the famous Féret guide classified the wines of the Château as an “exceptional vintage” from the Graves.

In the 1930s, the crisis in viticulture and the successive uprootings undermined production, which became almost non-existent.
In 1929, the property finally found its name: Château Larrivet Haut-Brion. Its new owner, Mr. Guillemaud, acquired the entire vineyard in 1941. He remained the demanding and attentive owner until 1982.

In 1987, the Gervoson family acquired Château Larrivet Haut-Brion and set about restoring it to its former glory. The estate then had 17 hectares of vines and a wooded park of 13 hectares. Faithful to their human and earthly commitment, Philippe and Christine Gervoson are committed to rebuilding the wine-growing unit of the Château.

In a few years, the property reached 72.5 hectares thanks to the acquisition of vines and new plantations (11.5 ha. for the white - 61 ha. for the red). Alongside a faithful, inspired and involved team, they continue to modernize the infrastructure, reorganize the vineyard (in-depth geo-pedological study) and affirm the quality of the wines, which today stand out for their elegance and character.

Bruno Lemoine, Managing Director and Winemaker of Larrivet Haut-Brion, embarked on this great adventure in 2007 and has since put his expertise and his taste for challenge at the service of the wines of the Château. The notions of heritage and female transmission are part of the DNA of Château Larrivet Haut-Brion.

The team was thus reinforced in 2009 by a Public Relations Manager with the arrival of Emilie Gervoson, one of the three daughters of the owners of the Château and proud representative of a new epicurean generation eager for wine culture. Accomplices and complementary, Bruno and Emilie bring a new informed look on the property.

Soils: Highly gravelly with a sandy or clayey matrix. Dissected into remarkably exposed and perfectly drained croups. 

Farming: Manual harvest in crates and mechanical.

Vines: 25 years of age
