Appellation | Saint Émilion Grand Cru

 Grape | 100% merlot

Tasting Notes | Supple textured with silky tannins and layers of ripe black cherries, dark chocolate, licorice and spice, the wine offers depth, opulence and layers of mineral driven fruits that build and expand on the palate and in the finish. This is in competition for the finest vintage of Lynsolence ever produced. The wine is made from 100% Merlot

Pairing | Grilled meat. Roast lamb

Ideal drinking | 2025 - 2040. Put away if possible. If not give it 2 hours of decanting.

The Chateau 

Victor Fourcaud Beylot, influential member of the Libourne wine trade and eldest son of Jean Laussac Fourcaud who was at Château Cheval Blanc at the time, founded the property of Château Couperie in 1862. Victor Fourcaud Beylot took particular care of his vineyard and, in 1881, Couperie was classified by Edouard Féret in `Bordeaux and its Wines` among the most appreciated wines. The property then belonged to Mr. Haudegand, then to Mrs. Renaud who sold it to Marcel Dassault in 1955. The latter gave it his name and, using the skills of the best specialists in the region, allowed his vintage to be classified as 1969. In 1994, his grandson Laurent took over the management of the estate. Helped by Laurence Brun, he experiences the same passion and the same pleasure in producing constantly improving wines each year.

Vines : Average age 45 to 50 years, density 5,600 plants/ha 

Farming : Leaf stripping and green harvesting in June and August, manual removal of inter-hearts, organic amendments exclusively, manual harvesting with rigorous sorting on the table

Ageing : 100% new barrels (Tronçais forest) for 18 months and more

Terroir: 2.5 ha in the town of St Sulpice de Faleyrens at a place called "Le Bert". Very gravelly sand, very deep gravel, fresh subsoil made up of iron grime
