ABOUT THE CHÂTEAU


Château Cantenac was created in 1870. “Cantenac” bares the origin of its name back to Roman times, bearing various meanings such as that of “enchanted, enchanting” place.
Albert Brunot who makes the acquisition of Château Cantenac in 1937 which has remained in the family since then with Albert and wife Emilie’s two children Jean Baptiste Brunot and Nicole Roskam-Brunot remaining in the business at the time. Nicole is now the proud owner and over sees each vintage with the help of her sons and daughter in law .
The chateau itself is located in the municipality of Saint-Emilion, 3.5 km west of the medieval city, on a promontory of gravel and clay. 19 hectares of vines are split into 75% Merlot Noir, 24% Cabernet Franc, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon with the average age of the current vines being 35 years plus.
