ABOUT THE WINE

Appellation | Saint-Émilion 

Classification | Grand Cru Classé AOC St-Émilion

Grape |  50% Cabernet Franc, 45% Merlot, 5% Malbec

Ageing | 18 months in French oak barrels (40% of which is new oak)

Tasting Notes | Dark berries, licorice notes with fine but strong tannin

Pairing | Rich fish dishes, roast chicken and pasta dishes

Drinking | Drinking well now until 2035

ABOUT THE CHÂTEAU


The creation of Chateau Jean Faure dates back to 1763. But the property remained obscure until Chateau Jean Faure was purchased by Olivier Decelle in 2004, beginning the modern era for the estate. Olivier is the previous owner of the popular French frozen food company Picard. 

 

Current Owner: Olivier Decelle

Soils: Clay and gravel

Farming: Organic growing since 2017. Hand harvested. Jean Faure is just 100m from Château Cheval Blanc. 

Vines: On average 40 years of age
