ABOUT THE CHÂTEAU

In 1697, Louise Escousses sold the property to Maître Simon Malescot, King Louis XIV's adviser to the Parliament of Bordeaux. He will give his surname to the castle.
On February 5, 1827, Count Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry acquired the Château Malescot. Great-grandfather of the aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, he decided to add his name to the name of the castle. An expensive lifestyle led the widow of Jean-Baptiste to auction her property in 1853.
It was in 1870 that Messrs Fourcade and Boissac then gave the great wine of Malescot a castle worthy of its rank and operating cellars, which would serve as a model for other Medoc châteaux. They will nevertheless have to resolve to sell in 1901.
A period marked by the uncertainties of a succession of owners followed the stability of yesteryear. Zuger Family 1955
On June 1, 1955, Paul and Roger Zuger bought the estate, which then only had 7 hectares of vines. Today the property covers 28 hectares in the Margaux appellation. Three generations of Zuger followed one another to relaunch and restore its reputation. It was therefore in 1994 that Jean-Luc took over from his father Roger.
Today, Catherine and Jean-Luc Zuger are the owners. Jean-Luc, manager, does everything he can to make Malescot Saint-Exupéry one of the Grands Crus of the Margaux appellation.

Current Owner: Catherine et Jean-Luc Zuger

Farming: HVE certified (High Environmental Value), practicing sustainable agriculture and using organic controls to improve environmental principles. 28 hectares in the Margaux appellation and the harvest is done manually
