Château Poesia 2016 - Saint Émilion Grand Cru
Appellation | Saint-Émilion
Grape | 70% Merlot and 30%
Ageing | 18-24 months in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes | The 2016 Poesia is a plush, deep Saint-Émilion endowed with quite a bit of textural richness. Dark raspberry jam, cloves, menthol, plum and rose petal all flesh out in a sumptuous, open-knit Saint-Émilion that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2016 is not especially complex, but it is quite delicious and easy to like.
Pairing | Juicy steak stuffed with mushrooms or most duck meals.
Drinking | Drinking well now until 2035. Please decanter an hour before, or open 2-3 hours prior to drinking. Still lots of tanins present.
Critic Notes / Awards | 91-93 points Robert Parker, 90-93 points Wine Spectator, 93 points Vinous, 96 points Jeb Dunnuck & 94 points Jeff Leve.
ABOUT THE CHÂTEAU
Poesia is the story of several meetings.
First of all, the meeting of two people: Hélène Garcin, a woman of passion, and Patrice Levêque, a meticulous winegrower for whom the vine is a being in its own right. Their vision of working the vine and their ardent fascination for exceptional terroirs gave birth to a life project, which took form in the type of marriage where one partner feeds on the passion of the other.
Then came the meeting between the couple and the terroirs. A complex, inexpressible notion, which creates a dialogue in spite of everything, from the first moment, from the first stride across the land. Terroirs of the sort that present themselves to man as being self-evident.
Poesia is the story of what happens when they are given their chance. The chance to create something exceptional, with the greatest respect.
