Château Vieux Maillet is located east of the Pomerol plateau, near the Saint-Emilion appellation. The first characteristic of this terroir is the great diversity of its soils. In fact, there are brown and gravelly soils, clay loams and sandy-clay soils on deep gravels. This gives the wines a complexity that requires advanced age to express themselves perfectly. Since 2004, Hervé and Griet Lavale, already owners of the castles of Lussac and Franc Mayne, have taken over the castle. They changed the team and enlarge the vineyard in order to magnify the surface area and the appellation.

Owner: Hervé and Griet Lavale

Soils : Gravely, sandy soils over clayey molasse with ferruginous sandstone over a deep gravel under soil.

Farming100% hand harvested. 8 hectares of vines

Vines: 35years of age
