ABOUT THE CHÂTEAU

The first mention of a Doisy cru is found in the "Topographie de tous les
known vineyards" by André Jullien (1832). Doisy is one of the twenty crus of the first class of white wines from Bordeaux which has five.
Daëne appears in the classification of Charles Cocks (1846), among the first 4 Crus de Barsac with Coutet, Climens and Myrat. In 1850, the same author ranks among the eleven premier crus of white Bordeaux wines. The name of Doisy Daëne results from the addition to the Doisy vintage of the name of its owner, Jean-Jacques-Emmanuel Daëne, Merchant in Bordeaux. Moreover, the vintage appearing in the 1855 classification is Doisy belonging to Daëne.
In 1875, the three sons of J.J.E. Daëne inherit the vintage. The same year, they ceded part to the Dubroca brothers then, in 1878, sold Doisy Daëne to
Jean-Paul Billot. His only daughter, Pauline, wife of Jean Lodoïs Juhel-Renoy, merchant in Paris, inherited it in 1884. She sold it to the Debans brothers in 1889.
Georges Dubourdieu buys Doisy Daëne from the heirs of the Debans brothers in 1924. For more than eighty years, three generations of winegrowers passionate about the production of great white wines have succeeded each other there from father as sons: Georges, Pierre and Denis.
Georges, winegrower and perfectionist winemaker, acquired the cru and consolidated reputation with legendary vintages until 1949.
Pierre, passionate, innovative and enterprising, has enlarged Doisy Daëne, by buying including part of Doisy-Dubroca. From the beginning of the 1950s, he created the Grand Vin Sec from Doisy Daëne. For fifty years, he signed splendid bottles.
Denis has presided over the destinies of Doisy Daëne since 2000. he is also Professor at the Faculty of Oenology of Bordeaux and consultant
world-renowned oelignologist.
Since 2004, the sons of Denis, Fabrice and Jean-Jacques have joined the activities family.
