ABOUT THE WINE

Appellation | Lalande de Pomerol 

Grape | 75% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot

Ageing | In barrels made with 16 months French oak from the Tronçais Forest, depending on the vintage, 15% new barrels.

Tasting Notes | Fresh red berries blend well with the oak nuances, earth, licorice and floral characteristics. Silky and vibrant, with a mix on the palate blending sweet red fruits, chocolate and thyme. This is good now and promises to be even better with some age. 

Pairing | Red meat, dishes in sauce, game and feathered game, poultry, strong goat and cow cheeses (brie, cheddar or munster), coffee or chocolate desserts.

ABOUT THE CHÂTEAU

Chateau La Fleur de Bouard is owned by the de Bouard family. When Hubert de Bouard purchased the property in 1998, it was called La Fleur Saint Georges. Following the age-old custom of renaming a wine after a change in ownership, they rechristened their new property, Chateau La Fleur de Bouard.

The de Bouard family are well known for their vineyards in St. Emilion, which include Chateau Angelus and Chateau Bellevue as well as their estate in the Cotes de Francs appellation, Chateau de Francs. Hubert de Bouard purchased the estate in 1998 from a French insurance company.

1998 marked the debut vintage for La Fleur de Bouard. However, starting with the 2012 vintage, Chateau La Fleur de Bouard began to be completely managed by Coralie de Bouard, the daughter of Hubert de Bouard. In 2016, Coralie de Bouard started another winery in the Montagne St. Emilion appellation, Clos de Bouard.

Soils: 18 ha with clay-loam topsoil and gravelly subsoil on the plateau of Néac and 11 ha in one block on a fabulous gravelly mound which includes 15 % of clay

Vines: 30 years old on everage
